Aberdeen Girls Softball Association (AGSA) Codes of Conduct
Volunteer Code of Conduct
All volunteers associated with Aberdeen Girls Softball Association (AGSA), including board members,
coaches, assistants, team parents, and event volunteers, are expected to adhere to the following standards of
conduct.
Volunteer Expectations
Volunteers are expected to:
- Act as positive role models for all players,
- Treat players, families, officials, and other volunteers with respect and professionalism,
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play,
- Follow all AGSA bylaws, policies, and Board decisions,
- Communicate respectfully and appropriately with players, parents, and officials,
- Place the emotional and physical well-being of players above personal interests,
- Support AGSA’s mission, values, and principles.
Prohibited Conduct
Volunteers shall not:
- Engage in harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discrimination,
- Use abusive, profane, or threatening language or behavior,
- Undermine coaches, officials, or Board decisions in front of players or parents,
- Engage in physical punishment or inappropriate physical contact,
- Make independent decisions outside their assigned role or authority,
- Use AGSA name, logo, or likeness without Board approval,
- Harass, intimidate, or target the City of Aberdeen, AGSA, Board members, coaches, officials, volunteers, or other
coaching staff, including through verbal, written, electronic, or social media communication.
Reporting and Discipline
Concerns regarding volunteer conduct should be reported to the AGSA Board of Directors.
Violations of this
Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including removal from volunteer duties or banning from
AGSA activities, as determined by the Board.
Player Code of Conduct
All players participating in Aberdeen Girls Softball Association (AGSA) programs are expected to
uphold the following standards of behavior. This Code of Conduct exists to ensure a safe, respectful,
and positive environment for all players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and families.
Player Expectations
Players are expected to:
- Attend practices, games, and team events with a positive attitude,
- Treat teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, volunteers, and spectators with respect,
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship in both victory and defeat,
- Be willing to learn, grow, and develop skills,
- Follow all AGSA bylaws, policies, team rules, and league regulations,
- Use appropriate language and behavior at all AGSA-related activities,
- Respect facilities, equipment, uniforms, and property,
- Participate as a team player and support teammates.
Prohibited Conduct
Players shall not:
- Engage in bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discrimination,
- Use abusive, profane, or threatening language or behavior,
- Display unsportsmanlike conduct toward teammates, opponents, officials, or spectators,
- Deliberately damage, misuse, or steal property,
- Harass, intimidate, or target the City of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Girls Softball Association (AGSA), Board
members, coaches, officials, volunteers, or other coaching staff, including through verbal,
written, electronic, or social media communication,
- Engage in any behavior that compromises the safety or well-being of others.
Disciplinary Action
Violations of this Player Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including verbal warnings,
suspension, or removal from participation, as determined by the AGSA Board of Directors.
Parent & Spectator Code of Conduct
Aberdeen Girls Softball Association (AGSA) is committed to providing a safe, positive, and respectful
environment for all participants. Parents, guardians, and spectators play a vital role in supporting
players and setting the tone for sportsmanship. This Code of Conduct applies to all AGSA events,
including practices, games, tournaments, meetings, and online interactions.
Expectations
Parents and spectators are expected to:
- Support all players, coaches, and officials in a positive and respectful manner,
- Encourage good sportsmanship, teamwork, and effort over winning,
- Allow coaches to coach and players to play without interference,
- Communicate concerns respectfully and through appropriate channels,
- Follow all AGSA bylaws, policies, codes of conduct, and Board decisions,
- Comply with all league, facility, and City of Aberdeen rules,
- Represent AGSA positively at all times, including on social media
Prohibited Conduct
Parents and spectators shall not:
- Engage in harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind,
- Use abusive, profane, or threatening language or gestures,
- Argue with, confront, or harass officials (including umpires), coaches, volunteers, or players in
a non-professional, disrespectful, or disruptive manner
- Harass, intimidate, or target the City of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Girls Softball Association (AGSA), Board
members, coaches, officials, volunteers, or other coaching staff, including through verbal,
written, electronic, or social media communication,
- Undermine coaches, officials, or Board decisions during or after events,
- Enter the playing field, dugouts, or restricted areas without authorization,
- Encourage unsafe play or unsportsmanlike behavior,
- Use alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products in prohibited areas or while representing AGSA.
Only coaches may communicate with umpires regarding game-related matters. Parents and
spectators may not address, question, or confront umpires at any time. For concerns regarding umpires, parents may speak with a coach or any AGSA Board member.
Harassment or abuse of umpires may result in immediate removal from the event, suspension from
AGSA activities, banning from AGSA programs, and/or reporting to the applicable league or
governing body.
Reporting and Discipline
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action as determined by the AGSA Board
of Directors. Actions may include verbal warnings, removal from the event, suspension from activities,
or banning from AGSA programs.
AGSA reserves the right to refuse service or participation to any individual whose behavior is deemed
inconsistent with the mission, values, or safety standards of the organization.
